EVERYBODY DESERVES A PARK!!!

Tie a Green Ribbon in Your Front Yard!!

When coal miners feel the air in their mines has been tainted by poisonous gas, they often send in a canary. If the canary dies the miners know the air is poisoned. Many believe that the presence of young people in the center of our community or downtown are like the canaries in coal mines, they measure its health. Without children, or young people, our community centers are simply desolate strips of flat roofed stores.

Our community center has become such a desolate strip. We have not provided public open spaces or parks for our children to gather. The Longwood Community can do better. We need to demonstrate to our children that they are an integral part of the Longwood family.

The Longwood Alliance is seeking to construct and manage a community park, which includes a skate park for our youth. We are attempting to get the county to purchase the property across from the library for our community park.

To show your support for our young people and our community park we ask that you tie a Green ribbon in your front yard, on your mail box, fence or trees. These ribbons will demonstrate to our elected officials the extent of support for our community park. We also ask that you call your Legislator and Assembly Person, and tell them you support the Alliances effort to build and supervise a community park.

It will only take a few minutes of your time - but will mean an enormous amount to a lot of kids. Please call your reps.
