Middle Country Road Renaissance Project
Funding Task Force

This task force works along with board members from the Longwood Alliance to seek funding, in the form of grants, or member items, for continued community outreach.

Nov 17, 2003

On October 30th, the Renaissance Project formally requested that the Town of Brookhaven consider six proposals for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The CDBG program is federally funded. Eligibility is based on the percentage of low and moderate-income residents that live in a certain geographical area, as determined by the census tract maps that are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

The Renaissance Project proposals included sidewalks, pedestrian-friendly lighting, street trees, crosswalks and bicycle lanes at various locations along Middle Country Road in Coram and Middle Island. The proposals are intended to improve safety for area residents and improve the appearance of our communities.
