The Middle Country Road Renaissance Project has on-going efforts to bring the NYS DOT "to the table" regarding planning changes for Middle Country Road. The striping protest of November 11, 2002, is but one example of bringing attention to the problems communities have with NYS DOT. The Renaissance Project has no intention to sit by idly as the NYS DOT rejects our reasonable, fiscally insignificant requests for safety improvements.
Our goal is simple: to make Middle Country Road a safer roadway for all users. To that end, we need the DOT to change and to be responsive to the needs of the communities they are supposed to serve.
To achieve that goal we need you to join in, by sending a clear message to our elected state officials:
Please send an e-mail to the elected officials listed below.
Tell them that you are outraged that the DOT has consistently placed the speed of cars above the safety of residents and ignored community input for over a decade.
Tell them that every injury and death on nearby widened roadways is a reminder that the NYS DOT must be forced to re-evaluate the safety of existing roads, their plans for future roadway design and their invovement by local residents and governments in determining designs for State roads in their communities.
We want this to be an e-mail avalanche!
We are also asking that you send informaiton about this page to two or three of your neighbors, as welll as firends and neighbors residing in Coram or Middle Island. You can use the "Send E-mail" button on the left sidebar of this page to do just that.
Thanks for your help.
Together we will move a bureaucracy.
