About The Middle Country Road Renaissance Project

The Middle Country Road Renaissance Project is encouraging the Town of Brookhaven to take the lead in progressive planning on Long Island. The Project has brought together nationally-renowned planners, local decision-makers, landowners, and the community to develop a shared vision for future development.

Members of the Middle Country Road Renaissance Project are area residents engaged in implementing a vision for the future development of our area. We are a true grass roots organization dependent on the input of local residents. Here is what we are doing:

  • We conduct monthly meetings to update everyone attending about our ongoing and future efforts.
  • We meet with Town Planners concerning pending applications for development.
  • We are working with the staff of Vision Long Island, our Town Representatives, Suffolk County Legislators, our State Senator and Assembly Representatives, as well as our Congressional Representative.
  • We are working to create & adopt zoning codes based on Smart Growth principles.
  • We attend & speak at meetings of the Town Council about area development and at the Planning Board about pending applications.
  • We speak before area community groups.
  • We contact nationally-known companies to encourage them to conduct business in our area.
  • We gather information & statistics as a foundation for our efforts.
  • We contact local businesses, developers and land holders about immediate and long-range improvements.
  • We seek funds to assist us in our efforts.

Any resident or business in Coram and Middle Island is welcome to come to our monthly meetings. You are also invited to participate in guiding the development of Coram and Middle Island as an active member of the Renaissance Project. If you are interested, or simply want more information, call 924-1427, and ask for Connie Kepert, or send e-mail to info@middlecountryrdproject.org or use the contact information found HERE.
