The Town Council is still reviewing the proposed code changes. As we previously stated, we are not pleased with the section describing the Main Street Business District since Coram and Middle Island have not been included on the list. To add insult to injury the J-6 Mainstreet Code is only an appendix of the Montauk Highway Plan.
We have been patient for 2 1/2 years while the planning staff and town resources have been almost exclusively devoted to Montauk Highway. We were told to be patient while the planning staff worked on amending the codes. We were told that the codes would help us move forward our vision. After reviewing the codes we have learned that, that is not the case. Ten communities have been listed. Needless to say Coram and Middle Island are not among them.
It is time for our voices to be heard. Help send a message to our elected officials. Tell them the designated centers of Coram and Middle Island should be included in the J-6 Mainstreet districts.
